Road test. Failed. OK, that was annoying... Driving into a brick wall.
Yesterday I took a Hawaii road test. I'd already passed the written test a couple of months ago.
I was considering going down to the testing center on the weekend and driving around the side streets to see how it was like. It probably would have been a waste of time because I failed on 3 aspects.
Speed. "You actually sped up while driving on residential roads."
Head checks. There's a bike lane, probably the only one on Oahu. It's hardly even noticeable before you indicate to turn right.
Stopping before the stop lines. "You're not stopping for other cars but you're stopping for pedestrians." I didn't want to explain that I already checked for pedestrians.
There was this extra gotcha where apparently there's this sign where you need to slow down to 10 miles before turning right.
So I'll need to wait a week before I can take another driving test.
So anyway, I was tested by this dude with a greasy moe who looked like he was a throwback to the 70's.
I have this theory that people have an ideal century that they're stuck in. It's usually a century in the 1900's... Since you know, everything from the 2000's onwards is a re-hash of the past.
Everything on VH1 is a post modern look at what has happened in the past. Everything is examined and re-examined that there is no original content that is being produced to be examined at a later date. All the content of the past world is being consumed and spat out at such a rate that there will be no more VH1 top 20's of the top 10 songs from the 70's that were the 50 most awesomely bad songs... Ever.
Yeah those road tests suck. Funny how strict they are yet we have a bunch of dummies on the roads??

Of course, I did make sure I didn't speed, but that was it. I was expecting more, since I've takent the test there before and know the tricky places, but we didn't even go near them.
Back in the day, town was always the hardest, maybe because that's where they train the newbies. If you can't do it in Kaneohe, try one of the other suburban sites...and let them know you aren't taking it because you lost your license in court.
